Clopton Village Hall, 11th-13th. September 2026

 

I arrived Friday lunchtime to find 4 units already on site, another 2 arrived over the course of the afternoon to make 7 in total.

I got set up and most of us congregated in the hall to relax and have a natter as there was a bit of a cool breeze outside.

We all drifted back to our vans to get dinner and eat.

At 8.00 it was back to the hall to pay our dues, collect our weekend quiz and itinerary and have a bit of a socialise.

 

Saturday morning was a little cool and cloudy and most of us nipped to various nearby places for a bit of shopping.

As lunch time came, the sun came out and it quickly warmed up.

Most of us sat outside Christine & David’s caravan, chatting, having a drink and enjoying the sunshine until we went back to our own units to get dinner.

 

Just before 8.00 the heavens opened and we thought we wouldn’t be able to get to the hall on time, but, fortunately it only lasted for 5 minutes.

We all did make it over, most dressed in a superhero theme.

The evening was all about Superhero Speed Dating, with Men vs. Women.

The Men won by a single point thanks to Spencer as Raphael, our own Hero in a Half Shell.

Tina and Neil went all out, as usual with popcorn, candy floss, and there was a chocolate fountain which, unfortunately, wouldn’t work properly but still managed to provide melted chocolate on marshmallows.

The children were having great fun and all us adults were also having a really good laugh.

A great evening was had by all, and the time flew by to 11.00 when we all went back.

 

Overnight it rained heavily a few times but, luckily, it stopped enough for us to pack up and the sun even came back through for a bit.

We did the usual coffee morning and prizes were awarded. 

Phil won best adult fancy dress as Batman and Spencer as Raphael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Tina won the Bonus Ball, Becky won the Raffle, Myself & Pete tied for the weekend Superhero Dingbats Quiz and after 3 tiebreakers I ended up with the prize.
As you can tell, I also won the arrival prize.

 

All in all, another excellent enjoyable weekend.

AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY ITINERARY 

      27th/31st August 2026

Thurs.... really looking forward to this weekend for lots of fun and great company , we set off at 11.30 am with the kelly and Massey kiddos ,the Thurlows are coming tomorrow from there holiday , we have just brought Dave and Christines awning as having our new caravan the sleeping isn’t possible with 7 children , plus some of them need to sleep in a tent , thanks to Janine and Adrian for loaning us there pup tent, and to Pete for helping the children put it up , although it’s not the right one as needed to be pegged down in the awning, so they ended up blowing the camp bed up and sleeping on that, the children played in the park while I cooked dinner 8pm over to the hall for paying our dues and catching up with friends  ( 16 caravans here ), there was loads of hornets outside the window being drawn by the lights ,10pm we quickly ran back to our caravan the kiddies was scared Incase the hornets got them ( poppa didn’t help telling scary storeys) all 4 kiddos ended up sleeping in the awning we could hear them giggling for half hour before we had silence.

 

Fri ...it did rain through the night but I love listening to it, 7am the kiddies woke up giggling I’m so very proud of them sleeping there all night they loved it , after breakfast I went over the park with the kiddies and Winnie was our gym teacher showing us exercises , I went on the zip wire which was so fast ,we were meant to play Boules and Kub but no one came over they were enjoying sitting in the sun , few more caravans came , Jesse turned up withe kiddies all excited monty ran straight over the park to the children , we have been lucky with the weather , I’m not cooking tonight we are all going over to the hall at 6 pm for the our curry chicken nuggets and chips cooked by Neil and Tina , what a lovely meal we had thank you so very much , after we had a fantastic evening playing Deal or no deal we’ll done to everyone that joined in well done to Wilfred for sticking to your guns you played the Banker well , then it was Peter in the chair the banker offered him (£2,000 ) at the end of the game as he only had a small amount , once Peter opened his box he had £15,000 so we don’t know how that happened , we’ll done to everyone that played roll the coin to the bottle of vodka and the children rolled a coin to the sweet jar , the evening went far to quickly thanks to everyone involved .

 

Sat ... it rained heavy in the night , but the sun came out later in the day , it’s my birthday today so kev and the kiddies cooked me breakfast then helped me open my cards and presents , iv been very spoilt again and got lots to look forward to, over the next few months , we had a walk to the shops the children stung me up for sweets it was double the price than at home , so won’t be rushing back there lol, the sun came out it’s lovely just sitting here relaxing watching the kiddies playing in the park laughing  after dinner we went over to the hall for fun bingo , I must say it was very different bingo with standing up , music, dab me nuts , plus lots more well done to the winners , thanks to Barry for bringing his roll the disc games it’s such a fun game to play and the kiddies loved it ,thanks to kev for buying Christine and myself a birthday cake and for everyone singing us happy birthday your voices get better every year , 

 

Sunday ... kev got up early and took Pete to a boot sale they wasn’t gone long , it’s our 46 wedding anniversary today and also Sue and Steve 47 wedding anniversary thanks to those that sent us cards it’s much appreciated ,after breakfast the kiddies went over to the park to play , while I prepared our roast dinner , I also cut a few hairs in the hall before our sports day , I must say a massive thank you to Adrian and Janine for an amazing sports afternoon , lots of different games ,well done to everyone that joined in lots of laughs were made ,while this was going on I cooked our Sunday roast , well done again to everyone that joined in lots of cheering to had, we ended the afternoon with tug of war the children against Pete and Nellie ( she didn’t realise she was on the wrong end ) well done to the children for pulling Pete down , we had our roast thanks to those that lent us there chairs so we could eat outside , a relaxing afternoon before heading over to the hall for our evening entertainment live music with Ricky Solo dancing the night away .and that we certainly did , another great evening our Joanie didn’t stop dancing the whole night and even our members joined her , lots of sore throats tomorrow from all the singing , again the evening came to fast , back in our caravan Joanie was still buzzing so started singing her songs hopefully. She didn’t disturb anyone .

 

Sun.... it really did rain hard through the night it woke us up , thankfully it stopped once we woke up . The children was playing in the woods and saw a rat run across the field so got very excited the adults were running around trying to catch it , over to the hall for tea coffee prize giving chris and Dave won the adult quiz it was out of Spencer and Gracie for guessing what’s in the bags so they had a tie question , Gracie won , but gave the prize to Spencer ( which was kind ) thanks to everyone for helping tiding the hall lots of hands make light work , it’s been an amazing weekend we didn’t want it to end , thanks to all the committee for all your hard work once again ,our Hayley came to collect some of the children they all had a wonderful weekend and didn’t want to go , although she said they were all soon fast asleep driving home ,we hope everyone got home safe and see you all soon .

27th - 31st August

Norton Village Hall

 

We arrived early on Thursday, along with Pete and Becky, to meet and great everyone. From 11:30am until the evening members continued to arrive making a total of 13 units on the Thursday. The weather was a bit hit and miss and we had quite a lot of rain throughout the day. We all went over to the hall at 8:30pm for teas and coffees made by Neal & Tina, and to pay our dues and food money and collect our weekend quizzes and itinerary.  It was lovely to catch up with you all. 
 

Friday morning came and more members continued to arrive, making a grand total of 16 units altogether. The kids couldn’t wait to get out of the caravan and get over to the park to play with their friends. Pete went off to Tesco to collect his shopping and to pick up the chicken nuggets and chips for the meal that was being prepared for everyone tonight. Later Ian took Lily to Tesco as she had been complaining of a sore ear. It was confirmed by the pharmacist that she had got an ear infection, so she was prescribed with antibiotics. I helped Neal & Tina to prepare the curries, as we were organising a curry night for everyone, where we could all eat together in the hall. At 6:00pm we all took our plates over to the hall and enjoyed a lovely meal of Chicken Balti/Chicken Korma with Poppadoms and Chicken Nuggets and Chips. Afterwards everyone then helped to tidy up, wash up and dry up and it was all finished in no time. Ian and David then put on a game of Deal or No Deal, the first to be picked was Wilf, who went all the way to the end but unfortunately had the 1p in his box! Next the children played roll the sweet jar, Harley and Spencer both managed to wedge their coins under the jar so were given 5 coins each to decide the winner with the closest coin. Well done to Spencer who got the closest, and a big thank you for sharing some of your sweets with an upset Harley. Next it was another game of Deal or No Deal, this time it was Peter that was chosen to open his box. I’m not sure what happened with David and his numbers but he made sure that the banker won by offering £2,000 to Peter for his box which he accepted, only to then open it and have £15,000 in there! Next it was a game of roll the bottle for the adults, which was a bottle of Vodka, this was won by Kathy (Abi), well done! After a lovely evening it was then time to go back to our caravans. 
 

Saturday morning came, Ian had gone off with Harley to football training back in Colchester. Lily had her friend arrive, who she was staying with us until Monday. In the afternoon unfortunately it started raining so Ian projected the Switch game Mario Kart onto the wall in the hall for the children to all have a go. They were very good at it! It was then time for dinner and we were meant o be BBQ’ing but Ian didn’t fancy BBQ’ing in the rain so him and Pete went off and got Fish & Chips. Then it was over to the hall for Fun Bingo at 8pm. We had 7 fun games of Bingo, which was called out by Pete, one of these was Music Bingo, Mark got very upset as Becky kept telling him the wrong song titles and he kept crossing off the wrong songs lol well done to all the winners! Bingo finished about 10:30pm so it was time to go back to our caravans. 
 

Sunday was a do as you please morning, Pete and Kev went off to the boot sale. At 1:00pm Ian and David went off to Great Yarmouth as Brett was racing there. At 2:00pm we all gathered on the field for Sports Day, hosted by Adrian and Janine. They had organised some different and very funny games, what a laugh we all had! It was then finished off with the traditional tug of war, Pete against the children, the children won - well done! Then a few of the other men joined Pete and a few more adults joined the children, I think it’s safe to say the children definitely won it this year! At 8:00pm it was over to the hall for live music by Ricky Solo. I think everyone enjoyed themselves (I know I did lol), dancing the night away.

 

Monday morning came far too quickly and it was time to start packing away. We had some bad rain during the night but luckily the sun was now out drying the awnings. At 11am it was time for coffee morning. Ian announced the winners of the competitions, Christine and David won the adults competition and there was a draw between Spencer and Gracie for the children’s competition, Ian then asked them a tiebreaker question which Gracie was the closest with so ended up winning the prize. Tina then done the bonus ball which was won by Neal, the raffle was won by Peter and we won the arrival prize. Members then carried on packing up and we were the last ones to leave. 
 

Thank you all for such a lovely weekend, and a huge thank you to all the committee for organising it all, when everybody enjoys themselves it makes all the hard work, sweat and tears that go into organising these weekends, worth it.

14th/16th AUGUST 2026 

Bassett Farm Little Baddow 

​

Thursday ... Kev and I decided to go away today and join the Thursday members , we had a lovely drive here I didn’t remember this venue , (until we went for a walk along the river ), 3 caravans were already here Tina came over and suggested where we parked as the children are going to sleep in Heidi’s new tent as it’s her birthday weekend ,it didn’t take us long to set up , I made us lunch then we had a little relax in our chairs before taking Luey for a swim along the river , we slept with the door and windows open as it’s stifling tonight , 

 

Friday... what a beautiful morning ,we sat outside and had our breakfast , thanks to Tina and Neal for keeping a eye on Luey while we popped to the shop, we got back and a few more members had turned up , 11 caravans all together , after lunch Kev moved his chair and put the umbrella up as he was too hot ,I sunbathed as I love this heat, it wasn’t long before our Jesse brought the kiddies up to stay the weekend , then Michelle Shaun and kiddies turned up the girls helped to put up Heidis tent , I was well impressed as it didn’t take them long at all , they were so excited to sleep in it , we met outside Neal and Tina’s to pay our dues and get our Itinerary for the weekend hosted by Becky and Pete, As it was Peter U’s 70th birthday he was given a lovely card and a cup from the 77 club , Becky gave out cupcakes with the none edible Peter’s face on top, it looks a fun weekend , as it got dark the kiddies played in our paddling pool Kev set up earlier ,thank god Michelle had packed lots of clothes for the boys lol the girls got ready for bed I gave them some goodies for a midnight feast , I hope they’re not to loud through the night .

 

Saturday ... another beautiful morning , I didn’t hear to much noise from the girls until Dottie came in about 5.30 am for the toilet , Kev cooked them breakfast , the boys started to pick the blackberries, and wanted to sell them to the members Monty was pleased he made 10p 11 am we all gathered together to have a walk along the river to Paper Mill Lock  ,there was loads of us , poor John and Joan only made it half was and turned back as it was too far for them , we let the dogs have a swim , it was a bit scary with poor Red as he was struggling swimming back to the edge good job Pete helped pull him out, we all had tea coffee cakes when we got to the tea room ,once we got back to camp we sat around chatting with our friends watching the kiddies laughing and having  fun ,we had a early dinner as the kids were hungry ,7.30 pm we all headed over to Becky n Pete’s caravan for a fantastic night of Beatle Juice this is a great game that we use to play in the club many years ago , lots of fun had by all , (see web for photos) we sat outside talking until 10.30 pm then got the kids ready for bed Gracie decided not to sleep in Heidi’s tent tonight so Lily had a turn , I gave Dottie another midnight feast , again we didn’t here them , about 1 am Dottie couldn’t sleep and was cold and she got  herself upset so she decided to come into our caravan and left the two girls sleeping , ( I didn’t hear her and knew nothing about it until Michelle called me asking If Dottie was ok ) .

 

Sunday... This weekend has been amazing it’s come to a end far too soon , we did the kiddies there breakfast as their daddy is coming for them at 10 am, they have had a fantastic weekend sleeping in Heidis tent and didn’t want to go home , 11 am it was over to Becky and Pete’s caravan for coffee morning well done to all the winners for this weekend guess who won the Arrival Prize !!!!! Me !!! We had to rush off as it’s Kev's mum’s annual picnic ,thanks to everyone for your company we hope you all have a safe journey home and looking forward to see as many members as possible at the next rally , once again thanks to Becky and Pete for hosting x

Shopland Equestrian Centre

31st July - 2nd August 

 

We arrived on Thursday morning, we were there first but Karla and Kevin were right behind us. Soon a few more started to arrive and by the end of the day there were 7 of us. It was a very hot day so we all sat outside chatting. Friday came and 4 more units arrived. There were quite a few children and they all played together and were very good. We paid our rally fees at 8 o'clock and we sat a round for a while, it started to get chilly so some people started to go back to their vans. Saturday was a hot  day, some went out to look around but the roads were very busy. In the evening we all sat outside Yvonne's van and had such a laugh, we played “would I lie to you”, and watched some funny caravan clips which Mark projected onto the side of his caravan. Sunday morning came and it was time for coffee morning.  It was another lovely, hot day. Doreen did the quiz for the weekend which John and Joan won, she also did the children's quiz which Arnie won, the bonus ball was won by Richard. Raffle was won by Doreen, and we won the arrival prize again.  Thanks to everyone that came and helped to make it a great weekend. See you again in a couple of weeks. Diane, Roland & Kenzie X

 

 

HOME FARM 

17th - 19th July

 

12 units got together at Home Farm Fisheries, Little Walden for a weekend fishing rally hosted by Kev and Karla. 
Friday was a lovely hot day and those keen anglers had a practice with their rods in the evening. Pete had to use his equipment to fish his phone out of the lake before he could take any photos of his catches! It was a lovely warm evening where we all met up to pay our dues and guess who the fishing champions were going to be! Would Phil keep his two year reign as champion with the trophy?! Fish themed Quiz sheets were given out and a colouring competition for the children. 
Adam, Amy, Sophia and Samuel joined for the day travelling early to take part in the competition
Saturday morning Kev blew his whistle at 8 to start the fishing competition. 
Steady fishing throughout the morning  with much excitement for each first catch of the day! and then a flurry of whoppers in the early afternoon. Non fishers supported whilst taking a leisurely walk around the lakes or watching on from their relaxing spot enjoying a cooler but pleasant day. A good mix of fishers of all levels participating in the competition that drew to a close with Kevs whistle at 2 o clock. All competitors keep nets were weighed ready to work who had landed the most weight in fish. some keen fishers stayed on for a relaxing fish for the afternoon. 
All gathered in the evening for a pancake/fruit salad/ice cream treat from Kev and Karla and a few games of Bingo! And if they hadn’t done enough fishing, there was an opportunity for duck fishing! Some duck fishers were there for a while but all participants reeled them in eventually! Jimmy was enlisted as assistant caller and prizes were given for each of 6 games. Bingo  players were less keen to stay on too late in the evening as the temperature had dropped and all were keen to get back and wrap up warm!
Sunday morning we gathered for a farewell coffee and prize giving.
Arrivals prize went to Shaun and Michelle.
Mark and Yvonne won the quiz with or without the help of Starlink!  (Confirmed by Yvonne that it was all their own work!)
Winners of the duck fishing were Arnie, Wilfy and Jimmy who hooked the number 20 duck. 
Bonus Ball winners were Mark and Yvonne
The Raffle was won by John and Joan
The colouring competition was won by  Heidi. 
Fishing results were given out 
In the Adults fishing, Kev, was in first place with 14.2 Phil came a very close second with 13.12. In 3rd place was Pete with 8.2.
In the Children’s fishing, Lily came first place with her bumper haul of fish! Spencer came second place. 
Harley used Kevs equipment after the competition and caught a 13lb fish so was presented with a special prize of his very own rod. He will be able to catch his own monster carp now!
This drew a lovely weekend to a close. More wonderful memories and new experiences to add to our memory banks thanks to all the members and friends of the 77 club!!

OGILVIE PAVILION
3RD - 5TH JULY 2026

​

Friday … we decided to go Thursday on this rally ,so Catherine asked Kevin if he wouldn’t mind getting our members parked up until a committee member turned up on Friday ,Kev called Eric the warden to come and open the gate for us and get the info for the weekend ,it was beautiful sunshine but very windy , it wasn’t long before we set up and had lunch , it was lovely to see Barry and Kathy they parked next to us ,then Diane and Roland came then Mark and Yvonne and their little granddaughter  Myla ,we sat outside our caravan for a little while but the wind was cold , this is only the second time of using our new caravan so we are still learning about all the controls ,we didn’t stay up late and was soon fast asleep.

 

Friday…. There’s lots of building work going on here as there having a new hall built ,although it didn’t interfere with us ,we ate our breakfast outside as its beautiful sitting here watching the birds of prey landing ,more members were turning up I put the kettle on and made some teas & coffees for them , in the afternoon we had a little drive out , its really beautiful around here ,more caravans came so that made 14 ,it was lovely to see Clive out again its the first time since losing Christine so was very hard for him , everyone came over to our caravan to pay there dues and get there weekend itinerary, Janine and Adrian are hosting for us the weekend so we know we are going to have a fantastic time .as the wind came up again members didn’t hang around to late.

 

Saturday…. Another beautiful morning sun blazing ,we sat outside for breakfast , the smell coming from some caravans was lush of cooked bacon and sausages , it’s Janine’s birthday today ,11 am everyone met to go for a walk into the village , those that couldn’t walk it drove, there was a beautiful boating lake which some of us had a go , while others sat and watched ,I must admit its not that easy well I didn’t think it was , thanks to Adrian for taking the oars into his hands ,Kev then had a go and got us stuck in the bushes, I must say Janine also did very well too ,I did have a little go with the pressure of Kevin ,the hour was soon up and we went into the little cafe for coffee and cake others had food thanks to Becky and Pete for my yummy ice cream ,some members started to walk back , we had a look in the antique shop ,there was a horse and carriage there that took you for a drive around the village , Kev didn’t want that so bargained with the man to take us Janine and Adrian back to our caravans  as its Janine’s birthday ,I don’t think anyone has ever done that before , we sat outside Diane and Rolands’s caravan and had lunch some played games it was lovely hearing them cheering ,it was lovely to hear that Michelle, Shaun and children had gone down to the beach with there body boards for fun , but as the wind got up it was far to rough for the children ,some members BBQ again the different smells was mouth watering ,thanks to the committee and members for trying to put up the tents with great difficulty the wind just wouldn’t allow it, Kev gave Eric a call as he said that we might be able to use their hall , if no one had booked it ,thankfully we could, 8 pm we all gathered there for fantastic games , I must admit my jaw ached with laughter , we certainly do have great sports in our club ,thanks to everyone that joined in see our website for my photos , the evening soon sadly had to end thanks to everyone that helped tidy the hall ,as we walked back to our caravans the village let off loads of fireworks for 4th July  it just finished our evening off with a bang, 

 

Sunday…another beautiful morning ,again having breakfast outside was lovely , we have really enjoyed this weekend and didn’t want to go home, 11am everyone made there way over to Janine and Adrians caravan for birthday’s, bonus ball etc well done to Pete for stepping into Ian’s shoes you done him proud ,Michelle & Shaun won the raffle Sue and Steve won the bonus ball and guess what I won the rally report , Barry and Claire left early as he had been poorly so wishing him better very soon .we hope everyone had a safe drive home and the lucky ones that are moving to another venue for a longer break have a fantastic time .

 

PS once again a massive thank you to Janine and Adrian for hosting for us all without members like you hosting we wouldn’t have as much fun ,

Red House Farm, Haughley 

We arrived at lunchtime on the Friday and were greeted by Neal & Tina. Once set up a few more units had arrived and we all gathered together under our gazebo having a catch up and a few drinks. At 8:30 we meet up in the middle to pay dues and collect the weekend competitions that had been organised by Catherine & Ian. We all sat around chatting but it soon turned chilly so people started heading back to their vans. 
 

On Saturday again it was a lovely day, some people went out for a walk or to visit the local shops. We sat around in the sun chatting once again. It was Roland’s birthday so we enjoyed some Victoria Sponge with sone tea and coffee and enjoyed looking at Roland’s photo album which was given to him as a present from Catherine and Ian. In the evening Ian had set up the projector under the gazebo, which we all gathered around and sung along to the music that was on the projector screen with the words. We had a lovely evening and eventually started heading back to the vans about 10:30ish.
 

Sunday morning came and we gathered in the middle again for coffee morning and prize giving.  I gave out cupcakes to everyone to celebrate Roland’s birthday yesterday. Pete & Becky won the weekend competition which was Dingbats, Lily, Harley & Spencer all won the children’s competition which was name the cartoon characters, we obviously won the arrival prize (again!) and I can’t remember who won the rear .

Easter Weekend Rally Report - Crowfield Village Hall

Thursday

Arrived around lunchtime and already few vans setting up.  Weather was good with the sun shining down.  Units kept arriving throughout the afternoon and there were 16 units in total.   Over to the hall in the evening to pay our dues and a long awaited catch up with friends. Poor Doreen and Ron as they had some issues with their van with a leaking heating pipe, leaking soap bottle on the way down.  But the worst thing of all was the bottle of spiced rum that smashed leaking everywhere.  What a waste of a good drink!!

Friday

Slightly cloudy day but not cold.  Lots of members all gathered together to go off for their Good Friday walk to the Church.  It was then back into the hall for teas and coffees and hot cross buns which went down a treat.  We had some visitors come for the afternoon and had a big BBQ to celebrate Liv's 18th Birthday.  It was then over to the hall for Music and party games to carry on the birthday celebrations.  A good evening was had by all even though I'm sure there was some cheating going on with the adults musical chairs!!!!

Saturday

A very blustery day but that didn't stop some members getting out and playing some games of boules. A nice relaxing day before the evenings entertainment.  Over to the hall at 8pm for "Fabbalous" an Abba Tribute act.  They sung lot of Abba songs and even threw in some 70's classics aswell.  Everyone was singing and dancing along.  Some members even dressed up for the evening and were invited onto the stage to sing with them it was a brilliant evening.

The traditional easter egg hunt for the children followed by the easter bonnets.  There were some very creative bonnets this year.  Boy and girl of the year trophys were handed out to Spencer and Lily.  The new Grandchild of the year trophy was handed out for the first time to Gracie.  A quiet afternoon for the adults but the children as they have the whole weekend were on the park and at the sports pitch at the top of the field they are all having such a great weekend.  Sunday evening over to the hall for some Jacket potatoes and chilli with extra toppings and salad.  The food was lovely and lots of clean plates.  Then it was the start of the race night lots of 20p's being handed over and placed on horses.  Lots of winners and lots of noise cheering on the horses.  Well done to all of the winners.

Monday

Time to pack up after such a great weekend.  We all met up over that the hall at 11am for prize giving and teas and coffees (and leftover Hot cross buns!!) Well done to all of the winners over the weekend.  Look forward to seeing you all at the next rally.

White Rodings Rally Report

Second rally of the year and we were blessed with some glorious weather out at White Rodings. Great turn out of members as well.

Pete and I were last but one to arrive. We learned a valuable lesson on route - never forget your rally book! We forgot ours and as a result arrived via a very narrow convoluted route, one we hope never to do again!! Following a quick set up we had some dinner and joined the other members in the bar for a tipple, pay our dues etc before having a somewhat early night.

Saturday was a free day. A few of us got up and went to explore North Weald Market and grab some bargains. Spencer spent his pocket money on some 3D dragons so was happy. Also got ourselves some of the infamous donuts, almost the size of our faces!

The afternoon was spent chilling out drinking wine and playing Boules - some people even got a little sun-kissed! I spent the afternoon reading followed by a long walk with Red and 3 of his doggy pals. He had a whale of a time running through the fields and was most excited to have found the most smelliest, dirtiest and blackest pond to swim in, so much so that he came out covered in black stinky silt! Good job my parents new motorhome has an outdoor shower point - Red was less pleased about his shower and relegation to the awning whilst he dried off!!

Our evening was spent playing higher and lower. It was a landslide victory for the ladies winning all 3/3 games. Bad luck gents! We also thoroughly enjoyed the “feely bags” and guess the 77 club member from a childhood photo - hilarious that my mum was not able to even guess herself from her own photo! (At least you know where I get it from now!!) The night was still young and Pat found a great game in the book corner which we played in teams - Dereks hosting was most entertaining.

Sunday morning we gathered as normal for tea and coffee. The children all got some sweets for their colouring, with Harley in first place with an amazing dinosaur picture. John & Joan continued to demonstrate their outstanding general knowledge by winning the weekend quiz and Pete and I obviously have on the arrival prize. I did however also win the bonus ball which softened the blow!

Mayday Rally Report - Hollesley Village Hall

Friday

We arrived to find a few vans already there setting up.  It was a lovely surprise to see the fish and chip van there and needless to say it was fish and chips for lunch as it was only there until 2pm!!!  We had great fun watching Kevin, Karla and Catherine putting up Kevin's new awning.  It only took them 3 hours!!  Over to the hall in the evening to pay our dues and collect our weekend quizzes.

Saturday

A nice relaxing morning catching up with friends and then a bit of a get together to play some more Boules in the sun.  Over to the hall in the evening for a Cinco de Mayo evening hosted by Janine and Adrian.  What a laugh we all had both Adults and children playing Sombrero Spin, Pin the Moustache on the Chairman and Vice Chairman and Pin the Moustache on the Pineapple for the children.  Sucking peas through straws was a great game and got very competitive.  What a fantastic evening.

Sunday

Slightly cloudy this morning but that didn't stop us setting up the Maypole.  Peter was on the music and Ian was on the microphone trying to get everyone in the correct places.  The children went first and they done a great job and then the Women and men had a go.  Poor Pete and Adrian got roped in to doing all 3 maypole dances.  Into the Hall after the dancing for a much needed soup and a roll it went down really well.  We then headed off to the pub in the afternoon and sat in the beer garden as it was lovely weather.  This evenings entertainment was Bingo hosted by Catherine and Pete.  Lots of winners both Adults and Children.  We also played Roll the sweet jar and Roll the bottle.  Gracie was the closest with her coin and won the sweet Jar, she even shared some of the sweets out with the other children.  Neal won the Bottle of Whiskey but didn't share this with the children!!

Monday

11am to the hall for Teas and coffees and prize giving.  Kevin and crew won the weekend quiz, we won the arrival prize, Wilf won the under 6's children's competition and Gracie won the overs.  Kevin won the Bonus ball and Michelle and Shaun won the weekend raffle.
